Sgt. Allison E. Logan |

| Alison E. Logan was born in Marion
County, Ky. on May 14, 1826. He was the son of Beatty Logan, a Kentucky
native and soldier of the war of 1812. He was the grandson of Capt.
James Logan, who served under Gen. Nathaniel Greene in the war of the
revolution. He was the brother of the company captain, Robert D. Logan.
His eldest brother, Dr. M.D. Logan also was a company commander in the
Sixth Ky.
Allison served as Third Sergeant of Co. A. He declined higher rank, preferring the closer association with his comrades. He served with the regiment from the beginning till his capture near Buffington Island in July 1863. He was a prisoner of war for six weeks at Camps Chase and Douglas. He managed to escape by bribing a guard and made his way through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, rejoining the regiment in north Georgia. He continued in service through the end of the war and war paroled in Georgia. During the war he had two horses shot out from under him but escaped any wounds. After the war he returned home to Boyle county where he joined his two brothers and engaged in farming. He remained unmarried. |
