Etiquette:
A Man should offer a lady his right arm when walking, but if it is more convenient the left is acceptable. His arm should be offered when the lady's safety, comfort or convenience may seem to require it. At night and when ascending steps at a public building, it should be offered.
If necessary, a lady can "gracefully raise her dress little above her ankle. With her right hand she should hold together the folds of her gown and draw them toward the right side." Using both hands and pulling on both sides is only permitted when there is very deep mud.
Men should never leave a lady he knows unattended, except with permission. Ladies should accept gentlemanly offers of assistance.
